Parenting Educator

Healthy Schenectady Families

St Clare’s Hospital/Schenectady County Public Health 2003-2005

Provided home visits to a caseload of 25 families, home visits provided parenting education to expectant and new parents to get their children off to a healthy start. Worked in collaboration with community service providers, provided referrals and kept accurate records.

 

Family Center Coordinator-Yates Village

Healthy Schenectady Families

St Clare’s Hospital/Schenectady County Public Health 2003-2005

Coordinated family center at Yates Village, planned and implemented monthly calendar of events, including guest speakers, crafts and story time. Recruited families to the center and encouraged families to take charge of the center.

Family Literacy Educator 1999-2003

Even Start Family Literacy Program

Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County

Provided home based education to families facing poverty, lack of English Proficiency and Teen Parents. Encouraged healthy parent child interaction, promoted increased literacy skills and employment. Worked in collaboration with community service providers and kept detailed records.

Coordinated family center at local schools, encouraged parent involvement, acted a as liaison for parents and school staff. Planned monthly activities and events. Provided referrals and community information.
